Great Ocean Road Regional Tourism is thrilled to announce that the documentary produced last year to commemorate 100 years since construction began on the Great Ocean Road, will premiere on SBS, Friday April 24th at 4pm (AEST).
The screening on the eve of ANZAC day this year is a timely reminder of the hardship faced by those who fought in world war one, then returned home to find their normal lives disrupted. The Story of the returned servicemen that worked on this now, world-renowned tourist road, is one that will spark a lot of interest.
This story tells of hardship and mateship, two themes that are close to the hearts of all Australians, especially so in the challenging times we are faced with in 2020.
“The Great Ocean Road’s significance as the world’s largest war memorial isn’t well known. The television screening of ‘The Story of the Road’ will give more Australians an understanding of the role of returned servicemen in it’s history. – Liz Price, Great Ocean Road Regional Tourism General Manager.
The documentary was funded under the Victoria Remembers program, administered by the State Government Department of Premier and Cabinet and produced by film makers Clothesline Content.
