WHAT IS ’52 GREAT WEEKENDS’?

We want to show our potential visitors, firsthand, the breadth and depth of what our expansive region has to offer. Our exciting content partnership with influencer @micro_adveturist, aka Lauren Doolan, is now in full swing.

Lauren brings in family and friends across our wide Great Ocean Road region to create curated content. We promote her “Great Weekend” every week for 12 months.

Each week’s “Great Weekend” episode showcases a range of curated activities, experiences, accommodation, restaurants, cafes etc. (This is where you can come in if you choose).

Lauren produces an edited video of each weekend with an accompanying blog post, social photos and stories. We promoting this through our socials as well as housing all content on our website visitgreatoceanroad.org.au/52greatweekends. We plan to be using this quality content for a long time to come.

WHO IS @MICRO_ADVENTURIST?

Lauren Doolan is known on socials as @micro_adventurist. The easiest way to get familiar is to check her out on Instagram. She is based in Melbourne and Anglesea, and shares a love for our region. You may recognise her from our Great Ocean Walk Instagram takeover last year. 

Here’s how Lauren describes herself:

“On weekdays I’m an Advertising Art Director with 18 years under my belt working on local and international brands and on weekends I’m an endlessly curious blogger and Instagrammer, also known as @micro_adventurist.”

We think it’s also worth mentioning that in 2018, Lauren won the Weleda Global Garden competition out of 10,000 applicants around the world. Lauren said this merged her love of nature, adventure and wellness with her professional skillset of photography and storytelling. 

We think she is a perfect fit to showcase our region and we are excited for what’s to come.

HOW YOUR BUSINESS CAN GET INVOLVED TO SPONSOR A WEEKEND

We are doing a lot of work in the background to plan the “Great Weekends”, pulling together experiences, accommodation, restaurants, breweries, you name it! We want to cover as many of you as we can and as much of the region as we can.

To be considered your business needs to support the 52 Great Weekends experience at no cost, and supply an offer or package deal to our visitors. If you are interested in getting involved, in return for exposure for your business (there’s no commitment to submitting your interest), here are some ideas of how: 

  • If you’re an accommodation provider – host the crew at your accommodation
  • If you’re a cafe, restaurant, or other venue serving food – host the crew
    (Note that the size of the crew may differ for each episode, so hosting will be for between 3 and 6 crew members)
  • If you are an experience / attraction / tour – provide in-kind products / services

To help turn exposure into conversion for your business bookings, we recommend creating a limited offer or deal that we can promote in line with the “Great Weekend” that your business is involved in. We are happy to work with you to help put together the best offer that works for yourselves and the visitor.

We will incorporate as many submissions as possible into the content plan and work through the production schedule. We cannot guarantee that your sponsorship EOI will be successful, given the size of our region and the need to cover many locations, but we will do our best. We want to be able to support as many operators directly as possible so there will be a variety of ways to be featured in each episode, including; the experience being showcased in the episode (video), in supporting content (still photography), mentioned (and external links to business listing) in blog and/or itinerary content, promotion of the sponsor deal/package.
